Brow and Forehead Lift

A brow lift, also referred to as a forehead lift, is a procedure to create a more youthful, refreshed appearance by smoothing the forehead, reducing the frown lines, and elevating the position of the eyebrow line. The brow and upper eyelids form a complex which should always be addressed together when considering rejuvenation of the upper third of the face.

Brow lift technique has undergone significant evolution over the past two decades. Dr. Monhian has special expertise in the advanced, minimally invasive technique of endoscopic brow lift. There are, however, other types of techniques with different placement of the incisions which may be appropriate for certain individuals. Dr. Monhian will determine the best technique for you during your consultation.

A traditional brow lift utilizes a coronal incision, which applies an incision far above the hairline. While this method can lift the brow effectively, it does often raise the hairline as hair-bearing scalp is removed. It may also place the eyebrows in an unnaturally high position. A direct brow lift places the incision directly at or above the eyebrows. Although this may be appropriate for some male candidates, it does leave a scar which needs to be hidden in a skin crease.

Endoscopic brow lift is the most modern technique that utilizes the least invasive approach to achieve its result.

The most modern is the minimally invasive method called endoscopic brow lift. Several small incisions are made in the hair and small endoscopes combined with video cameras are placed underneath the skin. Using this indirect instrumentation, the muscles and underlying structures are re-suspended. No skin is removed and the hairline stays in approximately the same position, while the eyebrows are moved up.
